Petoskey Jasper Collection
Heightening one’s intuition, inducing a harmonious atmosphere and awareness of emotions are commonly linked to Petoskey Jasper. The word “Petoskey” is the English translation of the Native American word “Bidasiga” meaning “rays of the living sun.” It is associated with heightening one’s intuition, creative expression, and stimulating the third eye chakra.
Jasper is an opaque variety of chalcedony (microcrystalline quartz) which is either solid in color or patterned. Petoskey Jasper is a type of jasper with fossilized colonial coral (hexagonaria percarinata) and is different than Petoskey Stone. Both are named for Ottawa Indian Chief Pet-O-Sega and the subsequent city of Petoskey in Michigan. Petoskey Jasper and Petoskey Stone are only found in the Great Lakes region of the United States. Petoskey Jasper has a MOHS hardness of 2 which makes it relatively soft and comes in combinations of cream, beige, brown, black, and blue.
Consider our natural stone, natural color Petoskey Jasper beads as an integral part of your designs and creativity. These beads uniquely reveal the beautiful patterns of the fossilized coral within. Besides the ever popular round beads (smooth, matte, and faceted), envision of how your customers will appreciate unique non-round shapes of heishi, roundelle, free form, tube, and graduated cut in sizes 4 to 30mm as part of your design portfolio.
Not sure what to blend with this unique stone? Try it alone or in combination with shungite, carnelian, hypersthene, malachite, or white quartz.
