For balancing yin/yang energy or aligning your body-mind-spirit connection, choose Impression Jasper. Linked with the base, sacral, solar plexus, and throat chakras, Impression Jasper is known to absorb negative energies. It is also a stone of encouragement generating trust, hope calmness, and courage.

Not actually a Jasper at all, Impression jasper is Variscite with chromium and vanadium impurities producing the green colors associated with natural Variscite with traces of iron adding a red or violet coloration. Impression Jasper is natural stone, natural color but may also be color enhanced (dyed) to accentuate the intricate patterns which are signature to this stone.

Formally discovered in Germany in 1837 (Variscia), variscites have been used in jewelry, carvings, and beads for over 6,000 years. Initially assumed to be Chinese turquoise, Neolithic variscite was found in Brittany, France  and named callais or callainite after a turquoise gemstone described by Pliny the Elder, a classical Roman scholar.

Trade names for Variscite other than Impression Jasper include amatrix (for American matrix), utahlites (mined in Utah), or variquoise from its similarity to turquoise or Aqua Terra Jasper (“water-earth”). You can find Impression Jasper is found in Australia, Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, and the United States (Southwestern states).
