Another recognized protection stone z against evil spirits and difficult situations is Black Onyx. It is associated with inner strength, stamina, discipline, focused attention, steadfastness, self-mastery, and the root, solar plexus, and third eye chakras.

The word Onyx is from the Greek word ὄνυξ, for "claw" or "fingernail" referring to the Greek myth of Cupid cutting the goddess Venus’ fingernails while she slept. When the fingernails fell to earth, they became beautiful onyx gemstones due to the belief that no part of a god can die.

Black Onyx is really quite versatile. You can use it alone as beads or carved stones or in combination with other stones for jewelry, decoration, or objects such as cameos. Onyx is a kind of chalcedony (form of microcrystalline quartz) with straight or nearly parallel bands of white color. Black Onyx is opaque with straight parallel bands or layers of black, white, or brown monochromatic color. With a MOHS hardness of 7, black onyx is truly a multi-purpose gemstone.

Black Onyx is found in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Madagascar, Russia, Scotland, the United Kingdom, Uruguay, Yemen, and United States.

Our natural stone Black Onyx gemstones are a deep rich black color or black with white color bands with enhanced color available as round, faceted, or rondelle beads, unique shapes (teardrop, flower, free-form, heart, diamond, hollow circle, star, square, graduated) in sizes 2mm to 14mm depending on cut.
