Labradorite transparency ranges from near translucent to opaque with varying degrees labradorescence displaying flashes of colored “fire” in blue, green or gold. This phenomenon of Labradorescence (hence the name “Labradorite”) is seen in labradorite where flashes of iridescent color (blue, green, blue- green, purple, orange, red, silver, yellow) occur as the stone is turned in different directions. These iridescent flashes of color resemble colors found in peacock feathers; hence make this gemstone very popular for jewelry, artwork, and decoration.
